Mepilex Border Comfort/Lite Dressings help reduce pain and damage to the wound during dressing changes. They use Safetac technology, which keeps the dressing from sticking to the wound but still gently sticks to the skin around it. Mepilex Border Lite Dressings are perfect for areas where you need a thin, self-adhesive dressing. They are a soft and comfortable option compared to other thin adhesive dressings. These dressings are great for treating wounds that don’t have much fluid or just a little.
• Diabetic foot ulcers
• Wounds with comprised/fragile surrounding skin
• Painful wounds
• Acute wounds
• Surgical wounds
Safety Warnings
Even if there is an infection, you can still use Mepilex Border Lite as long as you are also using the right antimicrobial treatment. When treating wounds with dead tissue, the size may seem to increase at first because the dressing helps remove the tissue through a process called autolytic debridement. This is normal and expected. Keep Mepilex Border Lite in a dry place and store it at a temperature below 35°C (95°F).
How to Use Mepilex Border Lite Dressings
First, clean the wound area. Then, remove the protective film from the dressing and apply the sticky side to the wound. Make sure not to stretch the dressing.
The dressing has an absorbent core made up of two layers: a thin sheet of polyurethane foam and a piece of soft nonwoven fabric. The absorbent core sits on a larger piece of polyurethane film and is held in place by a silicone adhesive layer, which goes all around the edges of the dressing. This gentle adhesive helps prevent the skin from getting too wet by stopping wound fluid from moving onto the surrounding skin.
Indications
Mepilex Border Lite is great for covering different types of wounds that leak a little fluid, such as leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, and wounds caused by injury that lead to skin loss. It can also be used under compression bandages. The dressing helps absorb fluid from the wound and keeps the area moist for healing, while reducing the risk of the surrounding skin getting too wet.
